Our Craft
Sand, fire, and a very old method
Nothing here is stamped from sheet metal. Each knocker begins as molten brass poured into a hand-packed sand mould.
The mould
A master pattern is pressed into fine casting sand and packed by hand. Every mould is used once, then broken open.
The pour
Brass is melted past 900°C and poured. As it cools, the grain and the small variations that make each piece its own are set.
The finish
Filed, buffed, and given an antique patina by hand. The high points stay bright; the recesses hold the shadow.
Made in India
Every knocker is cast using this method, entirely in India.
Our story
Indistores is a small, India-based workshop making solid brass door knockers — Nandi, Lion, Ganesha, and Peacock motifs among them, each cast from real brass with no plating and no alloy fill, then finished entirely by hand. See About us for the full registration and business details.
