The Peacock Plume Knocker is an architectural statement: 25 cm of solid brass cast into the flowing silhouette of India’s national bird. With its fan of feathers forming the backplate and the bird’s crowned head leading down to the striking ring, this knocker was designed for large main doors, villas and havelis that need substantial hardware.
Heft and Casting Quality of the Peacock Plume Knocker
At 1.45 kg the Peacock Plume Knocker is among the heaviest knockers in our range. It is cast in solid brass using traditional sand moulds, which gives the metal deep density and strength. When the ring strikes the brass stud, it produces a deep, sonorous ring that carries through thick timber and multi-storey hallways. There are no thin hollow voids or cheap alloys here—just honest, heavy metal.
The plume details and crest carry the individual character of hand pouring, making each casting a tactile piece of metal art for the entrance.
The Peacock in Indian Architecture
The peacock has symbolised grace, royalty and beauty in Indian royal palaces for centuries, famously adorning the courtyards of Rajasthan and the gates of Mysore. As a door guardian, the peacock brings a welcoming sense of elegance, joy and abundance into the home. The Peacock Plume Knocker captures that royal legacy in a durable form that stands up to decades of weather and daily use.
Scale and Installation on Large Doors
At 25 cm (nearly 10 inches) tall, this knocker is intended for doors with generous scale: double-leaf main entrances, tall timber panels and traditional haveli doors. On smaller apartment doors it can look oversized; for standard panels we usually recommend the 15 cm Peacock Majesty instead. Check our architectural sizing guide for sizing comparisons and our fitting guide for mounting guidelines.

Caring for Solid Brass Outdoors
Cast brass stands up exceptionally well to outdoor exposure. The antique gold finish slowly patinates over time, creating rich dark highlights in the feather carvings while the contact points stay bright. Clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth; see our care and polishing notes for details. Avoid chemical sprays that might harm the natural patina.

Peacock Plume Knocker FAQs
What is the Peacock Plume Knocker made of?
It is made from solid brass, sand-cast by hand, finished in antique gold. The colour is the metal itself, so there is no thin coating to chip or peel, and the piece keeps its strength for decades of daily use.
How big is it, and which door does it suit?
The knocker is 25 x 15 x 5 cm and 1.45 kg. It is best suited to a double or haveli door with a knocker space of 9 inches and up. If your door is unusually tall, wide or thin, check the sizing guide before ordering, or write to us and we will help you choose.
Will the finish change over time?
Yes, gently. Brass is a living metal, so high points brighten with touch while recesses deepen in tone. That patina is part of the charm, but you can restore the original look at any time with mild cleaning.
What does the motif symbolise?
This design stands for grace, renewal and abundance. Choosing a motif with meaning turns a practical piece of hardware into a small daily ritual at the threshold of your home.
How are delivery and returns handled?
Every order is packed securely and ships free across India. Full dispatch details are on our shipping page, and if the piece is not right for your door you can use our 10-day returns policy.
